Santa Rosa (CA) (November 10, 2016) – The Emerald Cup is the premier outdoor organic medicinal cannabis competition. Every year thousands of event attendees gather at The Sonoma County Fairgrounds to learn about new cannabis techniques, technologies and hear from thought leaders in the cannabis community. This year, the panels will include subjects ranging from California’s Proposition 64, regenerative farming, to the importance of terpenes. This is the first round of announcement for the panel portion of the event.
With California’s Proposition 64 vote on the November ballots, growers and farmers alike will want to understand how to navigate a post Prop 64 landscape. Topics will include: “County Organizations Making a Difference,” “AUMA and MCRSA”, and a panel with key government agencies to discuss compliancy for growers. Panel speakers will include, Tim Blake, grower, activist and founder of The Emerald Cup; Amanda Reiman of Drug Policy Alliance; Hezekiah Allen from California Growers Association; and many more to be announced soon.
With the new honorary regenerative growers award, attendees can learn more about regenerative farming practices. In this four part series, panel topics will discuss living soil, chemical free pests and mold management, bottled vs. brewed and regenerative farming, to learn the ins and out of regenerative farming practices. Panel speakers will include Jeff Lowenfels celebrated author of “Teaming with Microbes,” “Teaming with Nutrients” and “Teaming with Fungi;” Dragonfly Earth Medicine; and Alec Dixon from SC Labs to name a few.
Another standout panel will include discussions on terpenes. It was originally thought that THC was indicative of The Emerald Cup award but now it seems that terpenes perhaps count more. These panels will include topics ranging from how to maximize the terpene profile to the benefits of terpenes. And back by popular demand, there will be a panel to discuss mapping the cannabis genome. Speakers on these topics include Kevin McKernan from Medicinal Genomics; and Mark Lewis and Michael Backes from Napro Research; and many more to be announced soon.
The Emerald Cup is a 2-day conference, festival and competition taking place at the Sonoma County Fair Grounds on December 10th and 11th, 2016. For more information about the panels and speakers as they are rolled out, please check out the website at http://theemeraldcup.com/.

About The Emerald Cup
The Emerald Cup, founded by Tim Blake in 2003, is California’s premier outdoor organic medicinal cannabis competition for growing and breeding. What started as a small passionate 200-person event at Blake’s Area 101 property has blossomed into today’s most prestigious organic cannabis competition that Rolling Stone states, “the Emerald Cup honors the best strains of marijuana of the year.” The two-day event sees over 20,000 attendees partake in industry leading panels, interact with innovative vendors, while immersing themselves in a carefully curated musical experience.
