Six Summer Events in Glass & Hash
We’re halfway through summer, which means event season is truly in full swing. I recently rounded up a jam-packed June in my hometown of Denver, and now I’m looking forward to some terpy trips and heady happenings coming up over the next few months. So, without further ado, here are my picks of the six events you won’t want to miss out on if you’re into glass and hash.
Degenerate Flame Off
Portland, Oregon
Saturday, August 5th – Sunday, August 6th
Degenerate Flame Off (referred to simply as DFO) is hands down one of the biggest glass events of the year. Since 2010, artists from all across the country have come together to spend a summer weekend in the PNW and this year the event is headed home to Northstar Glassworks with perhaps its best lineup yet. We’re talking Firefly Glass, Banjo Glass, Mike Gong, Eusheen, and more hopping on the torch for live demos, booths from favorite brands like Mood Mats, Alchemy Jars, and Heady Swabs, and local entertainment and food. You can purchase two-day passes to this all-ages event (happening this weekend!) now at dfoportland.com or at the door on the day of the show.
Boro Brothers 10-Year Anniversary Show
New York, New York
Saturday, August 26th
Boro Brothers will be celebrating their 10-year anniversary during Higher NYC weekend – a three-day celebration of glass and hash. What’s not to celebrate there? They’re teaming up with two other galleries and the crew at Helios Hash to bring some heady vibes to NYC. The show will feature new work from legends like Yoshinori Kondo, Stormin Norman, Eli Sips, Haaps, and more with additional sponsors Toro Glass and Puffco. Entry includes food and drink, good vibes, and hella headies with general admission as well as a VIP option if you’re a serious collector. You can check out the Boro Brothers Instagram page for ticket info and more announcements.
Jake C. Glass Pints With Friends
Denver, CO
Saturday, August 26th
Also happening across the country on August 26th is the Jake C. Glass Pints With Friends show at Explore Glass Gallery in Denver. Explore always has a full calendar of summer shows and as a new cup collector myself, this has got to be the one I’m most excited about. Over 80 collab pint glasses will be released by Jake C. and artists from Piper Dan and Justin Carter to Blueberry and Snic Barnes. There will also be food, music, and of course, cold beers to fill up those pint glasses. This event is open to the public and you can check out the Explore Instagram page for more info.
Groovy Gravy Fresh Off the Press
Denver, Colorado
Sunday, August 27th
Groovy Gravy is a culture and cuisine-focused cannabis collective putting on events from fine-dining hash dinners to cocktail and dessert pairings and secret seed swaps – but Fresh Off The Press is always an annual favorite. 710 Labs serves up freshly pressed terps throughout the day, featuring sweet to savory flavor profiles paired with juice, coffee, and bites from locally acclaimed chefs. You can get on the waitlist now for access to tickets at itsgroovygravy.com.
The Smoking Jacket
Portland, Oregon
Friday, September 15th – Sunday, September 17th
The Smoking Jacket is an immersive three-day hash competition and experience put on by The Hashish Inn. The second annual event will be hosted at Archive Seed Bank’s new event space in Portland with a live podcast recording and Q&A portion for attendees, educational panels, resin tastings, and more. With a killer lineup of coast-to-coast competitors – from TerpWizard out of Michigan to The Real Cannabis Chris out of California – I can’t wait to see who wins and get to put on that highly coveted smoking jacket. Tickets can be purchased on the Eventbrite page now.
Hashtek Solventless Seminars
Los Angeles, California
Saturday, September 30th – Sunday, October 1st
Hashtek is launching a lineup of Solventless Seminars to teach the art and science of solventless extraction. The first will be held in LA at the state-of-the-art Rosin Tech facility and taught by Ras Kaya Paul of Pacific Northwest Roots, an award-winning breeder, grower, and hash maker specializing in six-star melt. Over a two-day hands-on course, attendees will learn about the entire solventless extraction process, from cultivating for resin production to packaging rosin for shelf stability. You can sign up for first access to seats now at hashtek.ca/solventless-seminars.
