There’s nothing quite like summertime here in Denver. As the sun starts to get hotter, the event calendar seems to get headier. It was truly a jam-packed June, so now that I’ve recovered, I’m rounding up the best industry events I attended in the Mile High City last month…
SHROOMSKI NIGHT WITH THE GREY’S Shroomski Night With The Grey’s was exactly the enchanting evening I needed to kick off the season. Held during the week of MAPS Psychedelic Science Conference and hosted by Shroomski Magazine, the event centered around a live painting by psychedelic art legends Alex and Allyson Grey. It was truly incredible to see these two in their element, working around each other in total harmony and adding to a piece they’ve been traveling across the country with as part of a live painting tour. There was also an array of mixed media artists and local cannabis vendors – including one of my favorite Denver-based crews Dablogic, known for their Hazelnut Cream hash rosin that made my round-up of 2022’s top terps – and glassblowing demos by Calm and Eusheen. After taking a few globs of Hazelnut Cream and checking out all the art, I spent most of the evening sitting outside under the string lights in the magical mushroom lounge with the House of Fuego team—summer party goals achieved.

THE WORKBENCH HASH DINNER The Workbench puts on some of Denver’s dankest fine-dining dinner parties, pairing small-batch hash rosin with seasonally-inspired cuisine. Limited to a small group of guests and held in a secret location dropped to attendees the day of, the private, industrial-chic space gives ultra-luxurious vibes. An open kitchen layout and chef’s counter-style seating create an immersive, multi-sensory experience that was something unique compared to other pairing dinners I’ve attended. While each event has a totally new menu and features different rosin brands, my personal favorite course was this Japanese A5 Wagyu – perfectly seasoned with thick-cut salt and accompanied by a sweet potato puree and fresh spring mix of local herbs and veggies. Paired with Black Garlic (GMO Cookies x Sour Dubb) rosin by The Mad Hasher and a refreshing Apricot Mint Julep, the complete flavor palette was rich and savory but balanced with floral and herbaceous notes on the back end.

DRINKING VESSELS DENVER CUP COLLECTOR’S SHOW Drinking Vessels creates and curates handmade drinkware to help transform your cup cabinet into an art collection, representing over 50 glass artists nationwide. While the studio is located in Minturn, right outside of Vail, the team recently traveled down the hill for its sixth Denver Cup Collector’s Show at Purple Haze Glass Gallery. The show featured new work from founder Ben Belgrad and collective collaborators like Log Glass, Rad Glass, and Rooster Glass, plus a mocktail bar so attendees could fill those fire new headies up with some fancy beverages. Calm and Burtoni were also there throwing down on the torch and working on three cup collabs live throughout the event. Pictured below, I just can’t get enough of those bright colors paired with the classic stripes – so dang fresh for summertime sipping.

GROOVY GRAVY SECRET STASH BREEDER’S MARKET Groovy Gravy is a members club founded to curate experiences that pair craft cannabis with food, art, music, and culture. The Secret Stash is always one of his most popular events of the year – a genetics and culture pop-up featuring top breeders and seed banks like Bloom Seed Co., Exotic Genetix, and Tiki Madman. Guests lined up around the block to get some beans and enjoy Denver’s best local music, food, and art. I really enjoyed grabbing munchies from local legends Little Arthur’s Hoagies and The Samosa Shop and watching Chris Haven do his thing during a live mural painting in the “Culture Lot” outside. I’ve also got to shout out Explore Glass Gallery for putting on an epic afterparty for this event featuring new work by Eusheen, a dab bar by 710 Labs, and a best trick skateboarding contest.
