Those of you that have never experienced a cat pissy variety of cannabis are likely thinking, why the hell would I want some weeds that smell and taste like cat piss? Well, that’s a fair question, indeed.
When I first came across the original Cat Piss, like 30+ years ago, that I believe originated in Vista, CA, I felt like I wouldn’t want any; a thanks but no thanks kind of thang. I couldn’t have been more wrong. To say, “it’ll grow on you,” is a huge understatement. Its acrid, sharp, and ammonia-ish terpenes, are nothing short of decidedly enjoyable, with a piercing side of wicked exotic.
I have seen a couple good Cat Piss versions of cannabis over the years, and something they all have in common is a fair amount of South East Asian (SEA) sativa influences. These influences include, really racy head, with motivational body effects. Paranoia can always be a result of edgy/racy sativa dominant varieties, so if you tend to get that way on sativas, Hemmy Black will likely be one of those that “gets ya there!” I think of these varieties as ‘dark energy’ types.

The Hybrid Rundown—Hierarchy Etc.
The father (P1), is the legendary Cherry Hemmingway (by KOS). A hybrid of an F3 Cherry Bomb male, and a landrace Bhutan, crossed with Rez Dog’s Firecracker (Williams Wonder x NYC Diesel, both pre-2000 versions).
The mother (P1), another of KOS’s own, the Darkling Sativa, which is a cross of the Vietnam Black jungle sativa (landrace) and the F3 Cherry Bomb; out of Hawaii. These two created the F1 hybrid called Black Forrest. The Cherry Bomb was an intoxicating massive yielding genotype with insane vigor; the Cherry Bomb was made using 3 Hawaiian cultivars including, Puna Budder, and Elephant Ear. Also, in the Cherry Bomb mix was the legendary Cherry AK47. The male used to make the Darkling sativa was a deadly C99.
Hemmy Black Growing Information
GROWER: Rev
Hemmy Black is fairly heat and drought tolerant due to the strong influences of the Cherry Hemmingway, and the Vietnamese (SEA) in the mix. She is a huge yielding variety with serious notes of cat piss (Haze-ish) and Nag Champa incense, coming off the massive number of well-developed bud sites. Some phenotypes have a cream soda, citrus, or vanilla background to them. I have never even heard of a small yielding, or weak female. Tons of old school yummies in this blend from KOS. Count on her to at least double in size during flowering.

I would not recommend this hybrid for humid conditions during flowering, like coastal growing outdoors, or in greenhouses without humidity control. The P1 father Cherry Hemmingway has been known to mold badly outdoors in high humidity, with both Powdery Mildew, and Bud Rot, due to her massively dense and large colas.
Another thing I would take into account is your flowering environment, make sure your flowering areas are DARK during the flowering darkness cycles. The father, Cherry Hemmingway, never handled any kind of light poisoning events well, and in about 10 days after any event, would show hermaphrodite responses in the form of some bananas.

Rev’s Hemmy Black Growing Tips of Note
On the up-sides big-time are; huge yields, insane vigor, fast rooting response from cuttings, deadly smells and flavors with some SERIOUS cat-piss phenotypes. There are phenotypes that lean a bit more or less sativa and all of them I have tried are wonderful. I have gotten many rave reviews from peeps that have grown this one.
Points to consider when growing Hemmy Black, are: You must have excellent air exchange, air circulation, and humidity control indoors/greenhouses during flowering. She’s all good flowering between 35-55% humidity. Hemmy Black is better as an indoor choice, rather than outdoor, depending upon outdoor humidity.
Breeder’s Note: The Hemmy Black is a veritable breeders’ paradise of old school genetics. The plants are mostly uniform (80% or so) with some of the outliers on the bell curve being truly insane. Hemmy Black is a fantastic hunting ground for males as well, because most of them (90% or so) are excellent breeding stock with giant yielding massive resin producing potential.

Afterword, Smoking with Rev
This one is unique for sure in high-type, and not sleepy at all, but body-wide relaxing in a way. My brain goes like a million miles an hour, and I am in a super creative, and a mostly motivated state of mind. The munchies are very low for me, but there are some demon red eyes, and severe cottonmouth that go along with this one. Smoking a lot will steer you hard to her spacey side. Hemmy Black is super fun, edgy, and a truly unique experience. Grab you some baybee.

I'm The Rev, and I have been with SKUNK for about a decade now. I hail from Southern California, spent mucho time in Northern California, and now reside in Southern Oregon; always coastal. I am an all natural style cannabis grower and I have written a couple books on the subject - check out True Living Organics 2nd Edition on Amazon - I have been growing for over 45 years, and I have been breeding cannabis for over 30 years. Check out kingdomorganicseeds.com to see some exotic selections. Growing connoisseur cannabis is what I teach mostly, growing it in living soil without using liquid organic nutrients to feed the plant. I am also a highly skilled synthetics grower, hydroponics, aeroponics, DWC/SWC/NFT, Ebb and Flow, and soilless, but I cringe when smoking synthetic grown herbs, so for the last 15 years or so I preach the artisan style of all natural growing, specializing in container growing. Cheers and welcome aboard.
