reserve your ad hereHowdy all and welcome to another Rev’s Rave, and today we be looking at the Blue Grapefruit 47 from Kingdom Organic Seeds (KOS), formerly called Blue Thai. The serious grapefruit flavors and smells guided me in the renaming. She was formerly untested as the Blue Thai but now fully tested and grown by myself and others. I have peeps contact me fairly often asking me for more narcotic type resin profiles. Well, this puppy here certainly fits the bill. Very narcotic indeed, and really what I would call “wheelchair weeds” without the full on couch-locking effect many varieties of this type also often have. Let’s dive straight in and get to know her a bit, shall we?
- Breeder: KOS (Kingdom Organic Seeds)
- Growing/Breeding Style: True Living Organics (TLO)

P1 Lineage Details

Male P1 Parent: A Superior Blue Rhino 1947 (BR1947) male, a favorite phenotype from an earlier inbreeding run. BR1947 is a product of circa 2000 Blue Rhino from Irish Rose seeds, crossed with Peak19/AK47 F1 hybrid from Cbay, also around circa 2000
Female P1 Parents: Two Riffraff Thai females (Deep Chunk x Kali Thai circa 2000).
Smoking Insights

Effects: Immediate “numb face” sensation. Boosts creativity and mood, great for art, music, and social environments. Rolling “freight train” come-on effect from the Thai, peaking after about 10 minutes. Not ideal for operating machinery due to its strong and distracting effects.
Mood Influence: Uplifting, fun, and intense—“wheelchair weed” with face-numbing potency. This is truly a FUN ride.
Flavors: And this is why I gave this one the grapefruit name. Yup, you guessed it, pretty much every female phenotype I have tried has tasted like grapefruit and hash. Delicious. A few, like 1:7 females keep more of an actual grape terpene expression.

Blue Grapefruit 47 Growing Guide
Ease of Growth: Very easy to grow, with excellent calyx-to-leaf ratio for easy trimming.
Temperature: Keep bud tops at or below 86°F.
Watering Needs: Do not overwater! As with most cannabis varieties.
Preferred pH: 6.2 to 7.0
Photoperiod Tips:
-
- Avoid a 24/0 photoperiod; I prefer 16/8 until 30 days old, then switch to 18/6.
- Alternatively, use 12/12 for sprouts (first 14 days), then switch to 18/6 (or 16/8) to sex plants at right around 30 days old.
- Flower plants only after they are 55 days old from sprouting for optimal resin production.
Outdoor vs. Indoor:
-
- Plants from seed excel outdoors in the ground better than clones.
- Clones perform better in containers than seed plants.
Germination Environment: 75–85°F ambient temperature. RH 40%—60%. High intensity lighting.
Soil Recommendation: Organically grown, in living soil, for enhanced flavors, aromas, and an elegant smoking experience overall.

True Living Organics the Druid’s Edition by The Rev
Unique Traits
- Phenotype Variety: “Chunky Recombo” style leads to several diverse phenotypes.
- Resin Production: All female F1s are heavy resin producers. This is a real face-planting type of cannabis.
- Terpene Profiles: Roughly 25% of females express strong grape terpenes early in flowering.
- Runts: Occasional runts (1 in 7) that can be surprisingly potent and resinous—ideal for personal connoisseur, or very small space gardens.

Final Thoughts
Chunky Recombo — refers to the fact that even though this is an F1 hybrid, the offspring are not totally uniform but rather they express variable morphologies and resin profiles to some degree. I prefer these types scouting for mother clones and breeders that are stand outs.
The Blue Grapefruit 47 is a clone hunter’s dream with its diverse phenotypes, resin-rich buds, and mood-enhancing effects. Whether for casual growers or connoisseurs, this hybrid offers an exciting and potent experience. Definitely keep an eye out for her to show up at JBC Seeds very soon.

- REv 😊

I'm The Rev, and I have been with SKUNK for well over a decade now. I hail from Southern California, spent mucho time in Northern California, and now reside in Southern Oregon; always coastal. I am an all natural style cannabis grower and I have written a few books on the subject - check out True Living Organics, Druid’s Edition on Amazon - I have been growing for over 50 years, and I have been breeding cannabis for over 30 years. Check out JBC Seeds to see some exotic KOS selections. Growing connoisseur cannabis is what I teach mostly, growing it in living soil without using liquid organic nutrients to feed the plant. I am also a highly skilled synthetics grower, hydroponics, aeroponics, DWC/SWC/NFT, Ebb and Flow, and soilless, but I cringe when smoking synthetic grown herbs, so for the last 20 years or so I preach the artisan style of all natural growing, specializing in container growing. Cheers and welcome aboard.
