I wish I had more time when I was in Las Cruces to dig deeper into Gina’s wellness products because holistic healing is one of my passions and there is always a chance to learn something new from people like Gina who are “tuned in.” Recently, while working in a local farmers market, Gina was literally run over by a reckless driver and almost killed. I took note of this circumstance and needed to mention that she has not received justice, only pain. I did what I could and hope that others can help as well by purchasing her products or by helping her more tangibly. Whatever you do, know in your heart that her healing energy is deep and tangible. I hope you enjoy the words and the questions that I offered Gina. She’s very special to healing in a way we can all learn about. Thank you. WB
Warren Bobrow: Please tell me about yourself. Where are you from? What do you like most about where you are? What is your connection to the plant?
Gina Morales: I’m Gina Morales, an aromatherapist, herbalist, and the founder of Desert Potions, where I craft wellness products inspired by the desert’s wisdom. I’m based in El Paso, Texas, a place that deeply influences my work. The desert has this raw, resilient energy—plants like creosote thrive in extreme conditions, teaching us about adaptability and healing.
My connection to cannabis is both personal and professional. It’s a plant of deep wisdom, and I approach it through the lens of plant medicine, aromatherapy, and ritual. I see cannabis as an ally in nervous system regulation, pain management, and emotional well-being. Whether through infused oils, terpenes, or intentional use, I help people integrate the plant into their wellness routines in a way that’s mindful and supportive.
WB: Tell me about what you do. What is your specialty? What sets your company apart?
GM: I specialize in aromatherapy and plant-based wellness, blending science with ancestral herbal traditions. Desert Potions is built on the philosophy that plants—especially those from the desert—offer profound healing when used intentionally.
What sets Desert Potions apart is our focus on both ritual and science. Every product I create, from infused oils to botanical blends, is designed not just for physical wellness but also to create intentional moments of healing. I use high-quality essential oils, herbal infusions, and plant extracts—including cannabis and terpenes—to support everything from relaxation to pain relief.
I also emphasize education. Whether it’s through workshops, guided meditations, or one-on-one consultations, I help people understand how to use plant medicine in a way that’s empowering and sustainable.
WB: What are your six- and twelve-month goals? What obstacles do you face? How do you anticipate removing them?
GB: In the next six months, I’m focused on:
• Expanding Desert Potions’ reach—I want to introduce new products and collaborate with more wellness spaces.
• Developing more cannabis wellness formulations, Desert Potions Gold, especially exploring terpenes and how they interact with other plant medicines.
• Hosting more workshops that blend aromatherapy, sound healing, and plant-based rituals.
In twelve months, I see Desert Potions as a recognized brand in cannabis-adjacent wellness spaces, with a strong online presence and a loyal community. I’d also love to work on publishing educational content—whether it’s a blog, a guide, or even a book on plant medicine and ritual.
Biggest obstacle? Time and resources—scaling while staying true to my craft is always a challenge. I’m tackling this by refining my systems, collaborating with like-minded brands, and being strategic about where I put my energy.
WB: What is your favorite food to prepare? Why? Do you have a favorite recipe?
GM: All foods really. I have a deep passion and connection to nutrition. I may not have a typical wellness gurus body, but I nourish it well. I enjoy foods made from whole ingredients closest to their natural form. I incorporate herbs and spices in everything from lentils and beans to fancy dishes. I’m well known for my green chile chicken pozole. I am willing to try most any dish from most anywhere.
WB: What is your passion?
GM: My passion is bridging ancient plant wisdom with modern wellness. I believe in the power of ritual, intention, and the nervous system’s role in healing. Whether through aromatherapy, cannabis, or herbal medicine, I love helping people reconnect with themselves in a way that feels natural, intuitive, and deeply nourishing.
